Our Mission

Our mission is to create access to the back country for individuals of all ages and abilities, while maintaining a healthy balance an appreciation for the animals and wilderness with which we venture.

Our Company

Wind River Llamas is a local, woman owned business that was established in 2015. The goal of this company is to utilize llamas to assist individuals seeking a back-country experience in a safe and efficient manner. We can offer trips for any location on the west side of the Wind River Range! Whether it be a short-day trip, summiting technical or non-technical peaks, fishing high mountain lakes, or just for those wanting to enjoy nature with all the amenities. We provide supported pack trips, gear drops, and catered lunch trips, all with the assistance of well-trained registered and rescued llamas.

Owner/Guide

Emily is a Wyoming native who has been guiding outdoor adventures since 2010 and stumbled across the packing world in 2012. On her first trip as a guide with Lander Llama, her passion for bringing individuals of all ages and abilities to the outdoors with the help of llamas began.

After she moved to Sublette County in 2013 she began building her company. She has been operating by word of mouth until the summer of 2020 but found it was time to get online!

When she is not in the mountains on pack trips she spends time in the mountains fly fishing, hunting, and/or skiing with her son Conrad and her husband Jason.

2023 Update: Emily is completing her Doctorate in Occupational Therapy which will limit trip availability in 2022 and 2023 seasons.

Nick Mahon

Guide

Growing up in southeastern Wyoming, I've spent the last 30 years exploring the backcountry, immersing myself in the wonders of Wyoming's untamed landscapes, and pursuing the thrill of tracking elusive wildlife.

I’ve worked with Wind River Llamas since 2021 providing exceptional experiences for our customers and guests. If you need any assistance or have inquiries, I specialize in hunting/fishing areas, maps, backcountry meals, gear, and trip planning.

Let's embark on a journey together as we uncover the beauty and secrets of our public lands.

“Most people are on the world, not in it.”

– John Muir

At Wind River Llamas we want to be able to give individuals the opportunity to enjoy nature with all the amenities. We only have a small amount of time in our lives to be outside and really enjoy everything nature has to offer.
